Chadwick International School, located in the heart of Ecopark near Hanoi, was envisioned as a state-of-the-art campus designed to support a student-centered and collaborative learning environment. With flexible classrooms, open communal areas, and a fully equipped Performing Arts Center, the acoustic challenges were wide-ranging. Controlling reverberation, ensuring privacy between classrooms, and mitigating background and equipment noise were essential to maintain speech clarity and concentration. In a bilingual academic setting where communication is central, acoustics played a fundamental role in the school’s success, impacting both student performance and the school’s brand reputation.
Delhom Acoustics joined the project from the early concept phase, allowing us to define precise acoustic targets aligned with the client’s educational vision. Our team led the acoustic consultancy for all key learning and recreational areas, including the classrooms, library, gymnasium, canteen, and the Performing Arts Center—which houses a 603-seat theater, a black box, a recording studio, and rehearsal rooms. We provided detailed acoustic specifications, partition markups, and guidance on interior finishes in coordination with Perkins Eastman. For the theater, we worked alongside Ducks Scéno to ensure scenography and acoustics were fully integrated, resulting in a professional-grade space tailored for use by students of all ages. We also addressed fire compliance challenges in the music rooms by developing a custom acoustic door solution, balancing performance with local code requirements.
The completed campus offers a quiet, focused, and immersive environment where students and teachers can engage without distraction. Classrooms benefit from sound absorption treatments that improve speech intelligibility, while high-activity areas remain acoustically separated. The Performing Arts Center delivers a professional auditory experience for both performers and audiences—showcasing the success of close coordination between acousticians, architects, and scenographers. Beyond technical achievements, the project reflects Chadwick’s commitment to holistic education and innovation. Acoustic design here is not just a technical layer—it’s a foundation for learning, creativity, and well-being.
