When Radiall prepared to relocate its Shanghai operations into a new 22,000m² facility, the stakes were high: create a functional, future-proof industrial site that would also be LEED-certified, employee-friendly, and compliant with noise regulations. The facility combines production workshops, offices, technical rooms, and shared areas — each with its own sound environment and acoustic needs.
In large multi-purpose industrial spaces like this, noise can quickly become a major challenge, especially when it impacts communication, concentration, and well-being. Radiall’s ambition to become a Smart Green Industrial Facility required early and smart acoustic planning to ensure long-term acoustic comfort and regulatory compliance.
Delhom Acoustics China joined the project from the very beginning, working closely with interior designers (iDA Workplace) and project managers (Gantt Consulting) to:
- Conduct an early-stage acoustic audit to assess potential risks and define specific acoustic targets for each space.
- Provide an acoustic design brief to align all teams before architectural plans were finalized.
- Guide material selection and system design through workshops, analysis reports, and simulations.
- Support the integration of acoustic solutions into the architectural and interior design, particularly in noise-sensitive spaces like offices, meeting rooms, showroom, reception, and canteen.
- Oversee the construction phase to ensure proper implementation and respond to on-site acoustic challenges.
- Centralize technical equipment in a single treated zone, reducing environmental noise and simplifying compliance with local regulations.
Radiall’s new HQ & Factory now stands as a benchmark for sustainable industrial design with top-tier acoustic comfort. Employees benefit from quieter, more focused spaces — from the assembly workshops to the meeting rooms.
The project contributes to Radiall’s LEED certification, with acoustics actively supporting points for interior environmental quality.
Most importantly, it reflects Radiall’s commitment to innovation, employee care, and sustainability — proving that acoustics can be a key performance and branding tool for the factories of tomorrow.
