The Smart Park Xi’an project is a high-end automotive industrial base developed by NXpark, designed to host advanced manufacturing activities alongside office, training, and collaborative spaces. As part of a large-scale industrial park targeting LEED Gold certification, acoustic performance became a key component of indoor environmental quality and user wellbeing.
The main challenge was to design office acoustic comfort within an industrial context, where noise from adjacent production areas, technical rooms, and building systems could directly impact concentration, speech intelligibility, and acoustic privacy. The project also required compliance with international sustainability frameworks (LEED, HQE) while remaining compatible with local construction practices.
Key acoustic issues included sound insulation between sensitive spaces, control of reverberation in large open-plan offices, impact noise limitation, and background noise control from HVAC and technical equipment, all within a complex, multi-functional building.
We carried out a detailed acoustic design study for the Smart Park Xi’an office areas, covering all critical aspects of indoor acoustic performance.
Our scope included the definition of acoustic zoning, followed by precise targets for airborne sound insulation, impact noise insulation, reverberation time, and background noise levels, based on room use and occupancy.
We developed construction-level acoustic specifications for partitions, façades, glazing, doors, raised floors, and junction details, ensuring that design intentions could be translated into measurable on-site performance. Particular attention was given to interfaces between offices and industrial areas, as well as to HVAC systems, vibration isolation, and noise control within ventilation systems.
All recommendations were aligned with LEED and HQE requirements, and supported by simulations, calculations, and detailed implementation principles for contractors and design teams.
Our acoustic design enabled the Smart Park Xi’an project to achieve high acoustic comfort standards within office, meeting, training, and lounge spaces, despite the proximity of industrial activities.
By combining sound insulation strategies, reverberation control, and background noise control, we ensured speech intelligibility, privacy, and user comfort, contributing directly to the project’s LEED Gold certification and overall indoor environmental quality performance.
The study provided NXpark and its tenants with a buildable acoustic framework, reducing execution risks and ensuring consistency between design objectives and real operational conditions. Delhom’s expertise played a key role in integrating international acoustic standards into a complex industrial park designed to support the project’s environmental performance, user wellbeing, and long-term operational quality.
