The Cour d’appel de Toulouse required a highly specialised acoustic strategy to ensure noise control in judicial buildings, where the stakes for discretion, speech clarity, and institutional dignity are exceptionally high. Achieving optimal conditions across diverse spaces—courtrooms, deliberation rooms, and administrative offices—meant addressing the risks of sound leakage, excessive reverberation, and mechanical noise intrusion. These issues, if left unresolved, could compromise both the quality of legal proceedings and the confidentiality of sensitive discussions. The acoustic solution had to be meticulously integrated without altering the building’s monumental architectural expression, which embodies the authority and solemnity of the justice system.

Delhom Acoustics led a comprehensive consultancy focused on advanced noise control in judicial buildings, combining field measurements, predictive simulations, and privacy index analysis to inform precise design decisions. Courtrooms were equipped with layered sound insulation, diffusive wall treatments, and tailored ceiling systems to ensure clear speech transmission and optimal reverberation times. Confidential spaces—including deliberation chambers and offices—were reinforced with high-performance partitions and building services noise mitigation to preserve sound privacy in courtrooms and beyond. All solutions were harmonised with architectural constraints and aligned with national standards governing acoustic design for public institutions.

Following Delhom’s intervention, the Cour d’appel delivers a professional and acoustically secure environment, where judicial proceedings take place with clarity, composure, and confidence. Enhanced speech intelligibility in legal spaces ensures seamless communication without the need for amplification or repetition. Confidential areas meet the strictest requirements for acoustic privacy, reinforcing the integrity of legal deliberations. Beyond functional outcomes, the acoustic design supports the symbolic weight of the space—demonstrating that in justice, confidentiality through acoustic design is not optional, but essential.
