The Pibrac Gymnasium was designed to host regional and national sporting events while maintaining an environmentally responsible profile. The building integrates solar energy systems and optimizes daylight use, aligning with the city’s sustainability goals.
From an acoustic perspective, the challenge was to manage the high sound levels typical of indoor sports, such as handball and basketball, while maintaining comfort for both players and spectators. Additionally, the facility includes a dance and gymnastics hall, spectator stands, and dedicated spaces for people with disabilities—all requiring tailored acoustic solutions.
Our acoustic team conducted a full study covering every zone of the gymnasium. We defined performance targets for:
- Sound insulation between multi-use rooms
- Impact noise control during high-energy games
- Room reverberation, to reduce echo and improve clarity
- Noise emissions from technical equipment, both indoors and outdoors
Close coordination with the architects ensured that acoustic materials were well integrated into the space without compromising its functional or aesthetic qualities.
The Pibrac Gymnasium now delivers a comfortable and acoustically controlled environment for all types of users. Sports activities take place in spaces where noise is managed, not amplified, allowing players to stay focused and spectators to enjoy the action without overwhelming sound levels.
